Our life is nothing short of an adventure...

Wind in our hair and screams of delight but also unpredictable turns and unknown outcomes. We are a family of six; Dave, Susie, Nate, Jake, Sam, and Bella.

God has been faithful in our marriage and through the birth and blessings of our boys.

God has been faithful during our adoption journey and united Bella with us in May of 2008. We were privileged to visit with Bella's birth mother; therefore, Bella's family in Guatemala will always be dear to our hearts.

On October 16, 2008, Bella was diagnosed with ALL Leukemia. We are now battling the disease with 2 years and 3 months of treatment. We believe God will continue to be faithful!

Our family is committed to living life to the fullest...even on the hard days. Thank you for checking in and journeying with us!

Wordless Wednesday

Ok, so this is my first post for "Wordless Wednesday". I truly dont even know what to say about this.

Last week, I visited with two of my girl friends who also have children from Hannah's Hope in Guatemala. Our girls were at one time all at the Orphanage together. They were amazed at how peaceful and content Bella was. Bella is a very good baby, but she has one little issue....she wants to be held ALL the time, and she has been this way since we picked her up last April 28th. I love it that she is so snuggly and loves her Mama so, but what am I to do being that I must get dressed.

Yep! Same deal over here!
I have to get up before the sun to get to shower and dress in peace!
Some day we will miss this, but for now...not so much! ;)

I can TOTALLY relate! I hear that same screaming out of Gilli because she too would like for me to hold her ALL DAY!!! She follows me everywhere and is constantly at my feet! My husband says that when I am gone she plays WITH TOYS!! I can't even imagine it! :) He think that I spoil her... maybe it is a little true!! ;) We are so loved by our girlies!! LOL

You CRACK ME UP!!!! Malaena-Sloan always looks at your blog with me and when she watched the video her eyes were big as half dollars!!! It was so funny. My daughter would wig out if I put her in a crib -period-! She sleeps in her pack and play but that's it. Malae and I do fine if she's not held as long as she's puttering in the same room with me. Right now she's sitting beside me eating a kleenex...fiber, right?!!! love!

Sheesh, Sus, would you just learn how to hold that child while you dress?! She's come all this way just to be held by you, it's the least you could do :P

She sounds extremely healthy; that's quite a hearty scream she's got.
Love you both,

Erin

How sweet! As you well know, there will be a day in the not so distant future that she won't want you anywhere near her, so enjoy the clinginess. I try to remind myself of that all the time!

I never did comment on the previous post, but want to add that Bella looks great. And still has so much hair! I'm so glad she's doing well considering what her little body is being put through. What a little fighter she is. Hugs from Oklahoma!

Love you guys,

I have been following your story and praying for a little while. I just added Bella's button to my blog. I am friends with Shelley and Jim Colbert, whose daughter, Abbey, was also diagnosed in October with ALL.

They are also praying for Bella.

Been there! Sometimes I catch myself leaning to one side because my body has adjusted to doing everything with a baby on my hip. I can't remember the time I took a shower without a tiny audience peeking through the glass door. Even when my husband is home and I think, "Woo hoo I finally get to go to the bathroom by myself (ya know the highlight of my day), there is STILL at least one crying toddler just outside and tiny fingers poking up from underneath the door. But then, at night when I hear their tiny little voices say, "Mommy rockey me", and I'm snuggling one within each arm. I say, "Thank you Jesus, for it's all worth while!"

Bless both of your hearts! Lilee was like that for about 6 weeks after we brought her home and it took about 2-3 months for her to start being idependant! But I know Bella has a very good excuse to want her mama all the time. Bless her baby heart! Enjoy it while it last. Now Lilee won't hold still long enough to be held! She loves to be on the move!

That's about all you can do. Johanna wants to be on my lap a lot but is not cuddley. She just wants to be between me and whatever else I may be doing at the time. Gotta love em!!

Stella is the same way. Sometimes she won't sit in her highchair in the morning for breakfast because she wants to sit on my lap. I always have someone wrapped around my legs or wants to be held.......all the time. I thought I was the only one with the same thing. I love that she loves me and wants to be near me but I can not get anything done. I guess it is ok. She will soon outgrow it I guess. But, I can relate.

Same here, when I'm home, Isabela is the best hip sitter around. The funny part is the way she climbs up. I grab her hands and she climbs my legs like she's climbing a pole. It's so cute, then she just perches on my hip with one of her arms wrapped around mine like a vice grip. LOL! I joke with her to try to shake her off, but she's not letting go for anything.

Aww poor Bella. Luca came running over to the computer when he heard her voice, then he watched her with this serioius look on his face.

I am lucky my two older boys are so willing to help when I have to do all my personal stuff. Luca is also more content to do his own thing now.

She is adorable, even yelling for mommy from her bed. It is something we must do.

This sounds like my house. I would be naked and unshowered if it were not for my three big helpers. We are praying for y'all daily!

Hey Susie,

It was very nice to see you today and catch up just a little on Bella. It has been way to long since we chatted. I know you are very busy with Bella and the family. I hope Feb goes ok for Bella and your family. We will keep Bella and the family in our prayers. God is Good! Blessings upon you all.

Love
Ann

I had a great laugh over this video - it brought back so many memories of my own "I want to be held" little one when he was much younger.

I just found your blog today and want you to know that your family is an inspiration to all of us. You have an amazing and beautiful family and we will be praying for Bella's healing.

God bless!

OH do I understand this one.....My Emma, who is now 5, was the exact same way from the day we first met her(5 weeks old). Our little princess had to be touching momma 24/7. I wish I had some advice but honestly we are still that way a lot of the time, especially at night.

She is full of fear that I will disappear from her. She loves going to church and friends house but at home she is a lovable little leach!!

We try to continually reassure her that we will always be here for her and love her unconditionally. We also stay in prayer over her fear.
